Evening’s Empire: A Musical Exploration of Night

This holiday season, we are delighted to release – for a limited time, available through 12/31/24 only – a new, never-before-seen full video of our May 2024 concert Evening’s Empire: A Musical Exploration of Night! This performance is free to watch online, with donations to the choir welcomed and appreciated – and through 12/31, all gifts will be matched up to $2,500 by a few generous supporters of the choir!

Evening’s Empire closed out our 2023-2024 season, and the program takes the audience and choir alike on a musical journey from dusk through night to dawn. Anchored by the remarkable Peter Klatzow work “Return of the Moon” with renowned marimbist Makoto Nakura, it features three beautiful and exciting pieces by composer Tara Mack, including a NYCMC-commissioned world-premiere, “Nighttime Ninja,” a setting of the children’s storybook by the same name, and several additional stunning compositions. We learned a great deal from putting this program together and were delighted to sing these pieces live several months ago, as we are to share them again now. We hope that you enjoy the concert and will continue to join us as we produce high-caliber, accessible performances and build community in 2025, in our upcoming 20th anniversary season, and beyond.
